At the end of April, the forest resounds with a charming dawn chorus created by great and blue tits, chaffinches, a wren and a robin. Among this diversity of voices, we can hear soft, gentle phrases of a mistle thrush. Its melodious songs, slightly similar to those of a blackbird, are a lovely addition to the symphony of an early spring forest. Every now and then, a raven can be heard, giving untypically high-pitched calls in the distance.

Beautifully recorded soundscapes of a forest full of life. But the liner notes say: "Tragically this area was chopped dead less than a year after the recordings took place." Another environment lost, with only memories and recordings surviving. William Denton
